Invisible cities- reflective statement
with this first project that we were given in hindsight, there is a lot that I could think of that I could of improve on or Changed for the "Invisible cities" project.
At the beginning of the project, I originally thought I was the bee's knees at digital art, but thanks to the lesson revolving around digital painting it opened my eyes to many new technique and styles that I didn't really either knew about or consider using. normally with digital art I would focus mainly on an image of a person then be quite minimalistic with the background, but over this first project has forced me to go out of my normal comfort zone a fair bit focusing more on detail of the buildings and cultures. as this was the first uni project I felt that it went quite well, the workload would quite a significant change to what I knew, but the project showed me how to roughly time manage with the work given.
If given the opportunity would have looked into more desgin options and aspects for "Isaura", but when looking back at the begin of the project when we were asked to produce over 100 and more thumbnail sketches personally seem quite daunting and sort of seeming quite lost with at first. but I find my rhythm creating the thumbnail (looking at one city extract then proceeding to make x amount of sketches of that city and move to the next) and got it done in the end. As for the city that I've chosen "Isaura" looking back on the whole development of the city after the thumbnail production I do agree with a lot of the criticisms that were made at the critical presentation, main one that mentions that "I went slightly off topic" to add context if you looked at my final three images that I produced were great and all but a couple of the images featured were great and all But it did wander off from the extract slightly for the actual city. another problem that I've faced while I was in the production of the city was time management and it was a severe problem towards the end of the project as there were pre-planned events that were happening during the last week and so before the big finish for this project. and with this problem, my brain basically second guessed it's self and after the first concept was finished I did some small shortcuts which now looking back as I'm writing this was some terrible Ideas, compared to what I had originally planned for the low angle shot was a shot of a temple that I planted at the bottom of the city involving an old god that I've created; and I really botched that idea up with second guessing my self.
If I had the opportunity to go over my concepts again and present them I would do a total revision of my city and try again to keep it somewhat along with the city extract, perhaps look into the structure of the city in greater detail through designs.
Overall I'm fairly happy with what I produced in the allotted time period that we were given, sure it was met with quite a few criticisms after looking back I agree with but I feel I did alright with the outcome that I've produced, it all fairly blended together well with the stuff that I mentioned in my OGR and Research presentation, and I feel that I've gained a fair few skills in digital painting that I didn't have before and I do feel a little pumped for the next project that we have next and I'm waiting to start like a hill climb(metaphorical).
so can't wait!
