For my hero and villain’s movie review be looking at the 2008 film “the dark Knight”. the film itself is set in the DC universe with Batman and Joker as the main hero and villain in this film and also its main focus. The reason why I chose “the dark Knight” is because as it features both Batman and Joker it displays qualities that will be considered binary opposites such as good versus evil Batman versus Joker /corrupter versus reality/ sane and the insane /dark light and weak versus strong. In the dark Knight a large constant contrast between the actions of both the Joker and Batman; with Batman taking cleaner action against criminals and the Joker just basically creating absolute anarchy compared to his counterpart. For my three acts structure film review, I will be looking at the first matrix movie. The Majors movie is one of the biggest movies that use the structure as compared to non-linear movies like “eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind” which uses a non-linear format for it storytelling, matrix uses a three act structure on which firstly in act one they’ll be set up to the story then in act two there will be rising tensions conflicts obstacles just general plot development up to big action that would lead into act three which would ultimately lead to a resolution and the end of the movie. The film Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind released in 2004 was Directed by Michael gondry and was written by Charles Kaufman. The film itself follows the strange couple who have their memories of each other erased, they meet at Montauk train station and strike up a relationship neither in them knowing that their mind to memories of them have been released in the first place. Joel who is described as a bit of a sensitive loner can be seen as the calmer collected character out of the pair as in his house before meeting this girl we see it to be very organized and has quite a simple lifestyle, been quite withdrawing at first but after meeting Clementine received quite a different change in Joel as he becomes more outgoing trying new things doing fun things. The film that I have chosen for my “hero’s journey” is Hercules (1997). American animated musical fantasy directed by Ron Clements and John Musker   At the start of the movie we are introduced to where originally Hercules was from but, then due to circumstances he was transferred into the mortal realm. Here he would encounter his mortal parents, which will lead to a “time jump” to the period when Hercules is a young lad. This above is showing us the 1 st category “ordinary world” in which he was living with his mortal adopted parents. The 2 nd category “call to adventure” was slightly different as he finds out that he was adopted from said parents and the place to find his answers to his questions would be at the temple of Zeus. Don Cobbs “Leonardo DiCaprio” is a professional thieve who goes into the dreams/minds of people and steals secrets from their subconscious. He uses a technique called extraction. Towards the beginning of the film Cobbs is approached by a man known as Saito (Ken Watanabe) who offers him a job, not to extract information but to implant information into the subconscious of someone. This would be Cobbs final job and would allow him to return home to America to re-join his family. Film review: Rope (Alfred Hitchcock) by Coyle Loughran The Alfred Hitchcock film “Rope” was an interesting movie to watch, even though the plot of the film was mainly created through speech and small actions. The two main characters on which the movie was focused were: Phil and Brandon. At the beginning of the movie, we were greeted with a view of a quiet area, the camera then panned upward to an apartment from which a scream could be heard. The victim of the scream was a person that Phil and Brandon both knew (David). Phil and his friend Brandon had murdered David with a simple piece of rope. The film Aien was produced and debuted in 1979 as a Fantasy Mystery film, however the film also prompts discussion around the rise of female-led films (Sigourney Weaver as lead) and the impact of Hans Reudi Giger’s designs; and work on the unique design of the xenomorph. When we first start the film, we are greeted by this huge star ship. In design it was simple, as each part of the ship gave off the feeling that this was a worker’s industrial ship. And all the crew members were basically workers themselves, as they wore basic clothing and ate the most basic things; even owning a pet cat as an extra.
